You likely have many questions about Coffee News as an appropriate business opportunity for you. Here are a few common questions.

How much experience is necessary to do Coffee News?
Most licensees had no previous experience before starting their first publication of Coffee News. Many licensees operate Coffee News as a part-time business.

You will need a strong desire to be independent. Additionally, you will have the ability to explain to advertisers the advantages of Coffee News advertising. You should enjoy networking through local organisations. You should enjoy using your creative talents to assist advertisers in delivering their message effectively through a Coffee News ad.

Can other licences be sold in my area?
We will guarantee you an exclusive area within which no other Coffee News franchise can be established in accordance with the Coffee News licensing agreement.

Who determines the price of the ads?
We will provide guidance based on population served and the number of restaurants in the area served. However, the final advertising rates will be decided by you.

How do you determine the areas to be sold?
From experience, communities of 50,000 population or less can usually support at least one Coffee News licence. Ideally, there should be 25-30 restaurants in the area. There are a number of communities with 5,000-7,000 in population that are doing very well with one edition of Coffee News. It depends a lot on the shopping characteristics of each community. We will work with you to establish the number of licences that are reasonable for your chosen area. You may be able to establish additional editions within that area. No additional licensing fees or weekly fees will be due on those editions.

Can I sell my license?
All licences, whether operational or not, may be sold subject to our approval. New licensees must sign a new agreement and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the Coffee News licence.

Is there a weekly licensing fee?
There is a fee which is based on the number of licences you have. It is not based on your sales, unlike many other franchises. This fee is not payable for the first three months of becoming a licensee.

be a Coffee News licensee

Areas in the UK now are available for licensing. As a UK Coffee News licensee, you will share in its worldwide growth.

Here are some reasons why Coffee News has become such a popular and successful business opportunity worldwide (and why it will be a UK success also).

It doesn't break the bank to get into business!
For example, an initial outlay of just £1000 would secure a Coffee News license serving an area with a population of up to 50,000. This will produce a very reasonable income on a part-time or full time basis. Licensees in larger cities can buy additional licences per 50,000 population and thus increase their earning potential pro rata.

14-day, "grace period" to assess the potential!
We want you to be sure that Coffee News will indeed work for you, and so we are happy to reserve the licences you want for 14 days with no payment and no obligation. During these 14 days, you can conduct your own market research, ask local businesses in your area whether or not they would advertise in Coffee News, and ask restaurants if they would be distributors. How many other business opportunities allow this?

We know that once you are operational, you will appreciate the potential income which we know Coffee News offers. Seventy per cent of licensees in Canada and the US have added new areas within months of taking out their original licences!

A "talk to other licensees" policy!
We will provide you with a list of e-mail addresses of licensees who have been operational for some time, and who will be happy to tell you of their experiences. It is this "family atmosphere" generated by our president, Jean Daum, which makes Coffee News successful and fun.

It's recession-proof!
Coffee News is designed to help small and medium sized businesses not only to survive during hard times, but to grow. Advertising is (arguably!) one of the few "elective" costs a business incurs, and when recession strikes, the advertising budget is usually one of the first casualties. But advertising is the life-blood of any business and Coffee News provides the best value in advertising there is.

Copy-cat protection!
Whenever any new idea in advertising is introduced and enjoys the remarkable success of Coffee News, there are, of course, bound to be imitators. None however can match the experience, service and results which Coffee News delivers, and invariably they fail.

As far as we are aware there is no similar publication in the UK. You can be assured that we will jealously guard our copyright and trademarks to the full extent of the law.

Training and support!
Even if you've never sold advertising in your life, we provide you with all you need to make you an expert!
Using our Operations Manual, you'll quickly understand the logic behind how ads work and will be able to design an ad for any customer - very quickly. You'll also learn every aspect of operating your own successful Coffee News licence - and especially how to avoid the common mistakes of other publications which you can see every day.
We are available at all times to answer your questions. There's also our newsletter which in addition to keeping you advised of what's happening within the company world-wide, contains submissions from other licensees on what, and what not to do (in their experience).

It's redundant-proof!
It's now commonplace for companies to announce major lay-offs and "down-sizing", and highly paid professionals can find it impossible to duplicate their old jobs. Owning your own successful Coffee News business provides job security. The world is changing as we face the millennium and we need to change too if we are to survive and prosper.

Coffee News is successful because it meets the requirements of everyone associated with it - the restaurant owner (who can now provide a fun paper free, for his/her patrons' enjoyment), the local business owner (who can now afford to keep her/his name and message in front of a vast local audience), and the licensee (who, for a very reasonable outlay, can now get into his/her own very profitable business, supported by a world-wide team).
